Arnold Palmer's best 18-hole score on tour was 62, which he made at the 1959 Thunderbird Invitational and the 1966 Los Angeles Open, both of which he won. But his all-time lowest score over 18 holes came in September of 1969 at Latrobe Country Club, where he grew up and learned to play golf.

During a casual round Palmer shot a 12-under 60, the lowest score of his life. He made two bogeys, including one on a par-5, but the score still stands as the course record—likely thanks to Bob Ford who, in a classy move on the verge of going lower in 1999, picked up his ball and went in. “I said ‘Arnold owns the course record,'” Ford recounted. “We’re done.” As the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette concluded of the round, “That’s all anyone needs to know about Bob Ford.”
