#66: Marries Kit
In 2005, at the age of 75, Arnold Palmer said “I do” for the second time in his life and married Kathleen “Kit” Gawthrop on a beach in Hawaii.
“I feel like a 25-year-old,” he said after the nuptials were announced. Palmer was on Oahu to play a Champions Tour Event, and the wedding was an unannounced private affair on the North Shore, near the Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort. The 12 years Palmer and Kit spent together as husband and wife were happy, as she said following his passing in 2016. “There were times where we’d just take off and drive and see where we went. We didn’t have to do big things,” she told Golf Digest. “We could do nothing together and have a good time.”
